Privacy policy – footballbetsnz
Only the personal information needed to operate a football betting information site is collected here. The governing law is the Privacy Act 2020, through its information privacy principles (section 22).
The responsible agency
Responsibility for personal information gathered through footballbetsnz lies with the body that operates the site. Name, address and e-mail are available at footballbetsnz.com, and that same channel serves every question about personal information.
Information collected
Every page opened leaves a server log entry: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the volume of data sent, the referring page and the browser type. Logs serve security and abuse detection and are deleted, or shortened until they point to no one, after 90 days. A person writing to the editors supplies a name, an e-mail address and the message, used solely for replying. Because the site has no reader accounts, deposits or bets, payment details and identity documents are not collected.
Why it is collected
Purposes are lawful and tied to running the site: keeping it available and secure, answering messages and, after a choice in the cookie banner, measuring audience (IPP 1). People learn what is collected and why (IPP 3), and the data is used for those aims only (IPP 10). No automated decisions are taken and no profiling occurs.
Providers and transfers abroad
Nothing is sold. Information passes to service providers who host the site, deliver its content and handle e-mail, and to public authorities when the law demands. A provider may store data outside New Zealand; disclosure abroad happens only if the recipient is bound by comparable safeguards or the person has been informed and agrees, as IPP 12 requires.
Safeguards and retention
Reasonable safeguards defend the information from loss and misuse (IPP 5). It is kept only while its purpose lasts (IPP 9): server logs for at most 90 days, and correspondence until the matter closes plus the time needed for possible claims. A notifiable privacy breach, one that has caused or is likely to cause serious harm, is reported to the Privacy Commissioner and to those affected.
Access and correction
Anyone may request access to the information held about them (IPP 6) and its correction (IPP 7). Requests are answered as soon as reasonably practicable, and within 20 working days of receipt at the latest (section 40).
Complaints
A person who believes their privacy was breached may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
