Racing
Racing is not football, but it is what TAB NZ grew up on, and it explains much of how betting is organised in the country. Here the focus is the mechanics: taking a bet, then settling it.
Horse racing, greyhounds and the Melbourne Cup are the subjects. TAB NZ takes fixed-odds as well as tote bets. Its betting rules name the types: win and place, each way, quinella, exacta, trifecta, first four. What the tote pays out is a dividend.
The closure of greyhound racing begins on 1 August 2026 and runs in stages; from that same day overseas operators cannot accept greyhound wagers either. The sport is overseen by the Racing Integrity Board.
